Two Completely Different Collections. One Platform.
A Cat S structural write-off and a clean-title Hertz rental can both be sitting on the same IAA site on the same day. One needs a heavy winch, skates and a spill kit. The other needs to be treated like a Grade 1 retail unit and leave the gate with its V5C and service history. A generic transporter does not distinguish between them. We do — before the driver leaves.
The Run & Drive Surprise
Clean-title fleet and rental stock is increasingly parked in IAA salvage lanes simply because of yard space. A generic transporter assumes everything at an IAA site needs a winch and charges accordingly. We verify run-and-drive status before dispatch and use drive-on loading where the vehicle warrants it.
The Missing Fleet Pack
Salvage lots have no paperwork — that is expected. But IAA's fleet and rental stock comes with a V5C and service history in a documentation pouch. Generic transporters walk past it. We ask for the Fleet Pack on every non-salvage collection. It does not get posted later.

Even at IAA's remarketing centres, site staff move vehicles with telehandlers. A pristine rental car can arrive at the loading bay with a fresh forklift dent on the sill. If the transporter does not inspect and photograph at the gate, the buyer has no recourse. We inspect sills and jacking points on every clean-title IAA collection.
The Cat B Legal Trap
Cat B vehicles cannot be towed or delivered to an unlicensed facility. They must go to an Authorised Treatment Facility with the correct Environment Agency permits. A buyer who bids on a Cat B thinking it is Cat S, and sends a standard transporter, loses their deposit. We verify the category before the truck moves.
Before the driver leaves, we know whether the lot is salvage or clean title, which site zone it is in, and whether it is a winch job or a drive-on. At Doncaster and Winsford, we send a truck with a heavy-duty winch, skates and a spill kit and the driver is ready to load in fifteen minutes. The site staff at these hubs are moving 500 vehicles a week with telehandlers — they will not wait while a transporter troubleshoots a flat battery.
At Sandwich and Newbury, the loading bays are cleaner and the gate staff are accustomed to drive-on collection. A clean-title Hertz or Enterprise rental collected here is inspected at the sills and jacking points before leaving — because even at a remarketing centre, a forklift may have moved it since it was last checked. The Fleet Pack is requested at the gate on every non-salvage lot.

Who Is Buying at IAA/SYNETIQ in 2026.
The buyer base has shifted significantly. Around 60% of volume is still true salvage — Cat S, N and B — bought by professional dismantlers, ATF operators and independent rebuilders working tight margins. The remaining 40% is clean-title stock: rental defleet, fleet disposals and finance repossessions bought by volume retailers, export traders and a growing number of franchise dealers sourcing budget stock that has largely disappeared from BCA and Manheim.
Clean-title units at IAA consistently sell for 10–15% below equivalent stock at BCA or Manheim — because professional dealers still think of IAA as a salvage platform and competition for clean lots is lower. Capitalising on that requires a transporter who treats the vehicle accordingly from the moment it leaves the gate.
